Vigil for the climate: NO XINYI

The proposed Xinyi glass plant would more than double Stratford’s greenhouse gas emissions. This project was under discussion by Council AT THE SAME TIME that the City made a Declaration of Climate Emergency (February, 2020). We call on the City to keep its word to our young people and decline this poorly-thought-out project.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE, SEE BELOW

Stratford Declaration of Climate Emergency

Stratford students worked hard to show the necessity for a declaration of climate emergency. They held rallies, and parades, and they they brought the problem to Council’s attention. They were jubilant when they succeeded, and they have continued to work for their goal.

This vigil is to remind Council that they are obligated to fulfill their promise.

TO PARTICIPATE

We meet in two shifts, noon - 1pm and 1 - 2pm, every day except Sunday. Because of Covid, only five can stand on the steps of City Hall, but if there are extra people we march around the square in groups of five.
